Stephen Hendry trailed 4-8 in his match against Dean Reynolds at one
stage. In the 14th frame, Hendry cleared the colours from green to
black to tie points score and then clinched the frame on a re-spotted
black to stay alive...
When Alex Higgins played his 2nd round match, it was standing room
only during the whole match!

Stephen broke a couple of records in this match. 1) He's the first
player to have hit three successive centuries in a match for a second
time (six players have done it once). 2) He scored 454 points without
reply, breaking his own record of 443.
If I remember correctly, it was in the semi-final of last
year's UK Championship against John Parrott,that he made his first
three successive centuries and also the 443 points without reply.

Stephen Hendry needed only 48 minutes to improve his 6-2 lead into a
9-3 win. After the match, he confidently claimed: "I'm too good not to
win the tournament."

At the press conference after the match, Ronnie O'Sullivan threatened
to quit snooker at the end of the year. A tearful O'Sullivan said: "If I
don't feel I'm going to be the best at something I am not going to do
it."
"It's not something that I've just thought about. I have felt the
same way for two years."
"I'm going to have a couple of days off to see where I'm going to
go. The way I feel at the moment, I will quit."
Let's hope that Ronnie comes back to his sense soon. What a loss for
snooker if he really deside to quit!

After a fantastic performance, Stephen Hendry won the UK Championship
and picked up the first price check of 70.000 Pounds. He made an
incredible seven centuries in the final, which is a record in a
professional match. He also became the first player ever to make five
centuries in seven frames. And his twelve tons in the championship is
a record for the number of tons by one player in a tournament.
