Higgins won all of the four frames in the final session to capture his first major ranking title since the 2012 Shanghai Masters.

This was Higgins' fourth Welsh Open trophy which is more than anyone else has. In total he has captured 26 major ranking titles.

Higgins won the decider on the final black after having needed a snooker
